The online non-degree franchise certification program in the Haslam College of Business at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, is a great way to learn more about franchising in a supportive, cohort-based, live online format. Within seven weeks, participants gain experience in the seven main components of the franchising business, including:

• Foundations: How franchising differs from other businesses
• Evaluation: Determining the right franchise business for you
• Acquisition: Learning to write a business plan and obtain funding
• Building: Recruiting, hiring and retaining franchise employees
• Leadership: Modeling the qualities of a successful franchise leader
• Operations: Managing and measuring operational components of franchising
• Growth: Implementing successful practices to ensure successful growth

The 7-week program starts October 6, 2025, and meets Monday afternoons 3:00PM-4:30PM PST. Taught by franchise expert, Cordell Riley, this program is structured around the seven pillars of franchising including: foundations, evaluation, acquisition, building, leadership, operations, and growth.
